The Straits Times reported today how two doctors from Singapore took the trouble to track Singapore burn victim Megan Loy down in Taiwan to arrange for her to be evacuated back to Singapore to receive treatment at SGH’s Burns Centre, which is the only specialised facility managing major burn injuries in South-east Asia.
Megan Loy is fighting to stay alive after she suffered serious burns to up to half her body at a fire disaster at the annual Colour Play Asia festival that was held on the outskirts of Taipei last Saturday night.
When asked why they acted so selflessly to get everything done fast, one of the doctors replied: “She is one of our own”.
We honour one another when we selflessly think of the well-being of others in our community and country, and think of ourselves as one people.
Thank you Dr Tan Bien Keem and Dr Chew Khong Yik for showing us Honour in action…we honour your selflessness!
