Happy New Year to you and your family! The team at Honour (Singapore) wishes you a New Year of great health in mind, body, soul and spirit. May this year be extraordinary and fulfilling for you in all areas of your personal, public and professional relationships!
We remain committed to promoting a culture of Honour and Honouring for the well-being of Singapore across all cultural, religious and ethnic lines. Our hope is that Singapore continues to be HOME, abundant with HOpe and MEmories, not only for our generation, but also for the future generations to come.
As we persevere in our efforts to share the importance of Honouring our word and Honouring each other for the continued survival and success of Singapore, we recognise that our progress thus far would not be possible without your encouragement and kind support. Thank you once again for supporting us in this journey.

The past quarter has been fruitful and encouraging for the team at Honour (Singapore). We successfully organised the third film screening that was played to a full house of almost 350 guests, the largest turnout to date. We continue to engage the business community and corporate leaders through sharing sessions, forums and talks. We share more in depth on these initiatives in the following paragraphs.
Films: Honour (Singapore) is supporting projects by student filmmakers at Ngee Ann Polytechnic and young filmmakers to produce short films on various facets of Honour. We were greatly encouraged when one of our Honour films, Kattumaanar (which means Builders in Tamil), was selected to be screened at the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) on 30 November 2016.

This was preceded by our third film screening on 18 November 2016 at the Genexis Theatre in Fusionopolis. This new slate of films played to a full house of almost 350 guests. It was meaningful as we honoured the Invisible People who graced the occasion that evening. On 14 November 2016, we screened six of our short films during the Republic Polytechnic's 2-week-long Make a Difference (M.A.D) Showcase. The theme, "Little Feet, Big Footprints", brought home the message that what “little” we do now can actually go a long way in impacting the lives of those whom we serve. About 200 students came to watch our films about people who believed in a cause, worked towards it and impacted others, because of their integrity, sacrifice and perseverance in pursuing their dreams or serving others.
The students found the films highly inspirational, with many indicating their heartfelt reflections on the feedback forms:
"To me, honour means having a strong moral code, kindness and compassion. Watching the films makes me appreciate my mother and domestic helper even more."
"It is very motivating and it has shown me that everyone is capable of making a difference as long as we put our heart into it."
"The films were inspirational and touching. It makes me want to look at life differently, and try my best to contribute to society, or even just to have integrity in any situation."
Learning Journey:
Following a successful pilot run of our Learning Journey programme in May 2016, we hosted two more secondary schools in October 2016. To date, we have reached out to over 1200 students and 40 educators from six schools. Through the reflections during the Learning Journey, the students gained a better understanding on what Honour is and how they can live it out in their own lives. Thought Leadership: I was invited as a guest facilitator to a business network for young professionals for a workshop entitled ‘The Singapore I wish for in 50 years’. This session was fruitful and engaging as I had the opportunity to share more on the importance of Honour for the survival and success of Singapore, as well as facilitate them in thinking about the Singapore they would like to see in 50 years’ time. Thinking in terms of 50 years means the fundamentals of policy and culture in Singapore can be seriously addressed. It was heart-warming that the young workshop participants were motivated and excited to describe the kind of Singapore they wish to see not only for themselves and their children, but also for their grandchildren.
Honour Toolkit: The production of the Honour Toolkit is completed and available to organisations that may find this material beneficial. Many corporations have values, but how many employees actually know and practise those values in their workplaces? The Honour Toolkit is designed to help organisations inject Honour into their own training programmes, so that their employees may honour their word, honour each other, and honour their company values. Talks: I continue to speak, on an invitation-only basis, on the subject of Honour at schools, companies, and community groups to share why Honour is important for the continued success and survival of our nation.
CEO Forum: The CEO Forum is a periodic forum that we organise to bring together leaders of organisations, big and small, to share our views on Honour and discuss how Honour could be beneficial to their organisations. Honour Champions and Honour Ambassadors: An inaugural discussion took place on 11 November 2016 with 11 participants from diverse backgrounds and industries to test the idea of whether it would be practical and helpful to create a network of leaders who are prepared to declare themselves to be Honour Champions and Honour Ambassadors, who are prepared to actively promote the culture of Honour in their respective organisations. The highly engaging discussion resulted in very positive feedback. We are thinking through our next step to creating an Honour Champions Community. We welcome all who are prepared to lead as Honour Champions in their respective spheres of influence to contact us so we can meet to discuss the idea further. Our belief is that the culture of Honour promoted through Honour Champions and Honour Ambassadors will not just be critical for Singapore’s continuing survival and success as a nation, but also will be critical for the survival and success of our businesses and families, and our effectiveness as leaders and workers for the future.
