Dear Friends and Partners of Honour (Singapore),
Thank you once again for your unwavering support as we persevere in our mission to promote a culture of Honour and Honourable Behaviour for the well-being of Singapore, irrespective of race, language or religion. As we approach National Day, the focus on what is critical for the future of Singapore becomes even more increasingly salient. Our hope remains that Singapore continues to be HOME: with much Hope and Memory, not only for our generation but for the many generations to come.
I write you with good news that we are holding our next Honour International Symposium on 26 and 27 September 2024, with more details in the following paragraphs.

HONOUR INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM 2024 |
|
|
|
The Honour International Symposium is our flagship biennial conference where speakers and participants from Singapore and abroad share ideas on how to succeed for the future, as individuals, as families, as organisations, and as nations. The Symposium was first held in 2016, followed by our second Symposium in 2018, and our third Symposium in 2022. We had to cancel our 2020 Symposium due to Covid-19.
I am glad to announce that the Honour International Symposium 2024 (HIS24) will be held at Pan Pacific Singapore, starting with the Opening Dinner on Thursday 26 September 2024 followed by a full day Symposium on Friday 27 September 2024.
It will be an in-person event which allows for interaction and networking. And we are so pleased that our Guest of Honour for the Symposium is President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who is also Patron of Honour (Singapore). HIS24 brings together leaders and future leaders in business, government, and community groups to discuss issues of honour and honourable behaviour for successful businesses, stable homes, and strong nations.

The theme for the conference is “TOTAL SUSTAINABILITY”. The rationale underlying the Symposium theme is as follows: Much public discourse on sustainability these days has tended to focus on climate change. We believe that sustainability needs to be discussed in its totality, rather than just the narrowness of environmental sustainability. The foundational end of sustainability has to be the sustainability of society. This strategic goal applies to government, to businesses, to the community, to families and to the conduct of individuals. Peter F. Drucker, who was a world-renowned leadership guru, has pointedly said: ‘None of our institutions exists by itself and is an end in itself. Every one is an organ of society and exists for the sake of society. Business is no exception. Free enterprise cannot be justified as being good for business; it can be justified only as being good for society.’
Government has to pursue a path that enhances the long-term viability of society. Businesses have to exist for the good of society. Families have to prepare children for a beneficial future in society. Individuals have to behave in ways which strengthen the long-term wellbeing of society and the nation.
Honour is the tool that seeks to draw the best out of every individual for the collective good of society as well as themselves - by building and enhancing trust, invoking acceptance of diversity in its manifold dimensions, and seeking the long-term well-being of each other in a gracious and caring society where each of us may be the best we can be given our talents and abilities.
HIS24 brings together like-minded leaders and future leaders in business, government, and community groups. It is an interactive program to reflect on the application of honour and honourable behaviour to bring about successful businesses, stable homes, and strong nations. HIS24 will comprise three discussion segments involving esteemed panel speakers with a broad range of knowledge and experience, whose hearts seek the sustainable success of individuals and the nation for the years to come. They are leaders of successful organisations, activists & advocates, and thought leaders who will speak their mind and take questions. Please visit
www.honourinternational.sg to see the exciting programme and the list of distinguished speakers.
With HIS24, we expect to benefit participants as they seek to do what is good and right, plotting their way to sustainable success in the years to come. We are confident that as leaders in your current roles, and as you seek to develop as leaders in future appointments, you will find HIS24 a rewarding experience. As seats are limited, participation will only be by invitation, and subject to a donation of SGD1,000 (received between 1 September 2023 and 31 August 2024) per seat, up to a maximum of 10 seats for any one individual or corporate donor. As we are an Institution of Public Character (IPC), donations to Honour (Singapore) Ltd qualify for a deduction of your taxable income amounting to 250% of your donation. We will have a number of seats which are partially or fully sponsored to cater for those who are keen to attend but could find the expected donation somewhat challenging.
Please register your interest to attend by sending an email to info@honourinternational.sg, indicating your name, your organisation, your current appointment, and, in the case of corporate interest, the number of seats you wish to have for your people.

On a closing note, I continue to speak on Honour and to hold workshops on imagining a successful Singapore 30 years from now, on an invitation-only basis, at schools, companies and community groups. If you believe such a session could be a boost to the vision and morale of the people in your organisations, do let me know your interest at limsiongguan@honour.sg.
Thank you once again for your support, encouragement and help over all these years. None of our initiatives and any progress to date would have been possible without your generous support. I look forward to hearing from you any ideas or feedback on how we can do better. Please feel free to get in touch with me at limsiongguan@honour.sg.
My very best wishes to you and your family.
