Honour Singapore
Seeking the Well-Being of the Nation
Chairman’s Special Message
Dear Friends and Supporters of Honour (Singapore),

I write to inform you that Mr Mohammad Alami Musa is taking over the chair of Honour (Singapore) in my place, to thank you for your encouragement and support of Honour (Singapore) all these years, and to ask that you continue with your generous support for the work of Honour (Singapore) as it scales new challenges and pursues with even greater determination the well-being of Singapore. I attach the media announcement, which includes encouraging remarks by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who is also Patron of Honour (Singapore), for your information.

I am stepping down as Chairman of Honour (Singapore) to accord with the rule that Directors of charities with IPC (Institution of Public Character) status, which offers tax benefits to donors, should not serve beyond a consecutive period of 10 years. Honour (Singapore) supports the rule as good practice in the governance of charities. We are very fortunate that Mr Mohammad Alami Musa, who has long been associated with Honour (Singapore), is willing to be my successor. I will continue to serve Honour (Singapore) as its Honorary Advisor. You will still be seeing me often at Honour (Singapore) events!

I step down as Chairman of Honour (Singapore) with a mix of emotions. My heart swells with appreciation for the countless individuals, organisations, friends and supporters who have steadfastly supported our mission since our founding in 2014. You are an irreplaceable part of Honour (Singapore) and a cherished companion in this movement to nurture a culture of honour and honouring in Singapore, as we seek to build a gracious and caring society. Throughout these ten years, Honour (Singapore) has sought to inspire and promote a social culture rooted in trust, mutual respect, and care for one another—values that unite us as Singaporeans.

We are incredibly fortunate to have President Tharman Shanmugaratnam as our Patron. We continue to look forward to his guidance and encouragement as we promote the culture of honour for the unity, success and advancement of Singapore and Singaporeans. President Tharman’s call of “Respect for All” holds resonance with our foundational precepts of “Honour Our Word” and “Honour Each Other”.

A few words on the new Chairman, Mr Mohammad Alami Musa. Mr. Alami’s wealth of experience includes his role as Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Rajaratnam School of International Studies and as the former President of MUIS (The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore) Council. He brings a deep-seated commitment to building understanding and honour across diverse communities. His leadership, vision, and dedication to Honour (Singapore)’s mission will be instrumental in guiding us forward. I am confident that his presence will inspire new initiatives and deepen the impact of our work. Mr. Alami’s passion for fostering a respectful and cohesive society aligns perfectly with our mission. He, together with the board, management team, and devoted supporters like you, will continue to lead Honour (Singapore) with dedication and a shared vision for the future.

Thank you once again for your trust, encouragement, and support for Honour (Singapore) as we seek to do what we can for the long-term well-being of Singapore and Singaporeans.

With deepest gratitude,
Lim Siong Guan
