SEPTEMBER 2026
Chairman’s Message
Dear Friends, Supporters, and Partners of Honour Singapore,

The future can sometimes feel as though it is arriving faster than we are ready for it. Technology is transforming how we live and work, the world around us is becoming more uncertain, and the next generation will inherit challenges and opportunities we cannot fully foresee. But the future is not simply something that happens to us. We have a part in making it.

This is at the heart of our Honour Symposium 2026 - Making the Future on 2 December, where we will ask: What kind of Singapore would we like our children and grandchildren to inherit 20 to 30 years from now?

I warmly invite you to support Honour Symposium 2026 - Making the Future and our continuing work to nurture a Culture of Honour for current and future generations. Find out more about the Symposium in this newsletter, and how your support can help us make the future we hope to leave to generations to come.

Richest blessings,
Mohammad Alami Musa
Chairman, Honour Singapore

30 June: Honour Leaders Forum
Trust in a Fractious World – Restoring Trust to Foster Innovation
Honour Singapore Board Director Goh Swee Chen, who also chairs the National Arts Council and NTU Board of Trustees, led a timely conversation on “Trust in a Fractious World – Restoring Trust to Foster Innovation”, exploring why trust is fundamental to effective leadership, innovation and organisational resilience.

A key takeaway was that innovation does not begin with technology alone, but with trust. Externally, trust gives organisations the licence to experiment; internally, it creates the psychological safety for people to surface problems, learn and innovate.
Swee Chen also shared four practical ways leaders can build trust: demonstrating consistency, telling the truth early, sharing accountability and leading with empathy.

The discussion reinforced a simple but important connection between honour and trust: while trust is earned over time, choosing to act with honour, integrity and respect creates the conditions for trust to grow.
1 July: Honour Learning Journey for Westwood Secondary School
Honour Singapore welcomed Westwood Secondary School back for its third Honour Learning Journey, engaging 211 Secondary 2 students and 14 teachers in conversations around honour, values and the choices we make in everyday life.

Through four short films, Carik Bulu Ayam, Strike, Handprint and Ah Ma, students explored themes of empathy, resilience, gratitude, responsibility and the importance of family and relationships.
The school’s return reflects a shared commitment to helping young people explore honour and values, and shaping a generation grounded in values that guide their choices, relationships and contributions to the community.

12 August: Honour Film Screening – Season 17
More than 500 guests attended the Season 17 Honour Film Screening, featuring five short films by young filmmakers from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic and LASALLE College of the Arts: Sisa Sisa Harapan, Conversing with Death, Night To Light, Putting Down Roots and Family. Inspired by real people and experiences, the stories explored themes of family, relationships, resilience, responsibility and hope.
The growing turnout and interest in each season reflect the increasing reach of the Honour Film Initiative and the resonance of stories grounded in values and real-life experiences. Through the emotive power of storytelling, the films bring values to life, inviting audiences to see the world from different perspectives and reflect on how we view and relate to the people around us.

By creating greater awareness and reflection, we hope these stories reinforce the values that matter in our lives, families and communities, and contribute to sustaining a strong culture of Honour in Singapore.

17 August: 'What's Next' Workshop - MUIS, MENDAKI and PA MESRA (M3)
Building a Successful Singapore in the Next 30 Years
Led by Honour Singapore Founder and Advisor Mr Lim Siong Guan, the signature ‘What's Next’ workshop engaged leaders from MUIS, MENDAKI and PA MESRA (M3) in envisioning the Singapore they hope to see in 30 years. Through cultural backcasting, participants worked in groups to imagine this desired future and consider the values, behaviours and changes needed to get there.
The discussions culminated in five aspirations for Singapore: to be diverse yet cohesive; empathetic rather than transactional; led with trust and hope; prosperous without leaving people behind; and a society where technology serves humanity. These aspirations pointed to a common conclusion: Singapore's future success will depend not only on continued progress and prosperity, but also on the values and social fabric that shape the kind of society we become.
21 August: Inaugural Honour Film Screening for Educators
In collaboration with the Ministry of Education's Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) Branch, Honour Singapore held its inaugural Honour Film Screening for Educators at Golden Village Suntec City, bringing together more than 150 educators from around 60 schools.

The screening introduced educators to films from the Honour Film Initiative as resources for CCE, using stories to bring values to life and encourage reflection and discussion among students.
The response from educators was encouraging, with many seeing the films as meaningful and engaging resources for the classroom. We hope these films and accompanying resources will reach more students through schools, encouraging them to reflect on the values of Honour and how these can be lived out in their everyday lives.

Honour Champions Community (HCC) Events
15 August: Inaugural Honour Champions Community Day
Under the theme "Making the Future: Honour and Humanity in the Age of AI," Honour Singapore held its inaugural Honour Champions Community (HCC) Day, marking the first time members from the various HCC interest groups gathered under one roof. The programme featured a keynote by Lim Him Chuan, who shared insights from DBS' transformation journey and perspectives on leadership and staying human in a rapidly changing world, followed by a panel discussion with Jaclyn Lee, Ivan Ng and Shai Ganu, moderated by Jacqueline Wong.
With participants spanning different generations, backgrounds and interests, the day provided a platform for conversations, exchanges and new connections across the wider Honour community. More than a series of events, HCC seeks to grow a community of people who share a commitment to strengthening a culture of Honour, where human values, trust and relationships remain important as technology continues to reshape how we live and work.

Collaboration and Partnerships
17 July: Honour X Singapore Polytechnic STARaisers Show 2026
Honour Singapore joined Singapore Polytechnic (SP) School of Business (SB) in celebrating its 40th anniversary at the SB40 STARaisers Show 2026: #MoreThanJust, a student-led theatre production showcasing the creativity, passion and talent of SP students. The celebration was made especially meaningful for Honour Singapore as we were selected as the beneficiary of the School of Business' SB40 fundraising campaign, in support of our Nurturing Future Leaders fundraising initiative.
What began with a fundraising target of $40,000 grew into an encouraging show of support from the wider community which surpassed its target by 15 July, with more than 250 donors. The funds raised will support Honour Singapore's efforts to nurture young leaders anchored in integrity, compassion, responsibility and an entrepreneurial mindset. Beyond marking an important milestone for SP School of Business, the collaboration reflected a shared commitment to creating opportunities for young people to grow, contribute and lead with purpose.
25 July: Inaugural Honour X Singapore Polytechnic Fellowship
Honour Singapore and Singapore Polytechnic marked an important milestone with the launch of the inaugural SP × Honour Fellowship, a new initiative to nurture values-driven young leaders. From 32 applicants, 16 students were shortlisted for interviews, with 12 Fellows subsequently selected and appointed as the inaugural cohort.

Each Fellow is paired with a mentor drawn from Honour Singapore’s Board and Panel of Community Advisors, with opportunities to learn from and connect with leaders across different professions and walks of life.
The Fellows will also work together to conceptualise and launch their own project or event for the wider SP community, putting honour, leadership and service into practice.

As the pioneer cohort, the 12 Fellows will not only embark on their own leadership journey, but also help shape the Fellowship for future cohorts, strengthening our shared commitment with Singapore Polytechnic to nurture young people who lead with values, judgement and a sense of responsibility.
27–28 July: Honour X Regional Scrum Gathering Singapore 2026
Honour Singapore came on board for the first time as a Community Sponsor of the Regional Scrum Gathering Singapore 2026, bringing our perspective on human agency, judgement and responsibility into conversations around Agile, AI and the future of work.

As AI transforms how we work, an important question remains: what unique value do we, as humans, bring?
Honour Champions Community members Michael Koh, Chief Convenor, and Joyce Lek, HR Convenor, contributed to the programme through sessions on the changing nature of work and human agency in an age of cognitive automation. Their participation reinforced Honour’s belief that even as technology advances, the human values guiding our decisions, relationships and responsibilities remain essential.
31 July: Honour X SMRT Kaizen Centre Visit
Honour Singapore visited the SMRT Kaizen Centre, hosted by SMRT’s leadership team led by Chairman Seah Moon Ming, our newly appointed Honour Singapore Board Director, and Group CEO Ngien Hoon Ping.

The visit provided a firsthand look at SMRT’s Kaizen transformation journey since 2018, including how continuous improvement, innovation and technology are applied across its operations.
Participants also learnt how SMRT empowers staff to identify opportunities, solve problems and contribute to safer, more reliable and efficient rail operations.

The visit was a meaningful reminder that lasting improvement is not driven by technology or processes alone. When people are empowered and a culture is grounded in respect, trust and appreciation, continuous improvement can become a shared commitment across an organisation.
